If you have to frequently question your friendships and/or relationships then you've already received your answer. When your relationship maintenance becomes a second job or just plain exhausting, it might be time to take a step back. Often times when we are deeply involved, we replace rationale with emotions, making it much more difficult to step outside of our relationships and see things from an aerial view.
A plant needs water and sunlight to grow and humans need plants for essentials such as; oxygen and farming. This mutual arrangement between plants and humans allows both things to function not only simultaneously, but properly. We can apply this same example to the dynamic of friendships and relationships. Without a mutual exchange of the core components of a relationship...it won't last. The longer a plant goes without ample water supply and sunlight, the closer it is to dying. If only one person in the relationship is giving 100% and the proper "nourishment" isn't reciprocated, quite naturally, one element will eventually become weak or break.
Everyone needs sufficient fuel to keep going. Encouragement, genuine support, constant reassurance and unconditional love are all things that feed the relationship and stimulate growth.
Treat your friendships and relationships like as an investment. Love can not be found were it doesn't exist and a plant can't grow in famished conditions.
It's a " I scratch your back , you scratch mine" type of thing.
This is your Food for Thought.... munch on that.
